Linum (Línum usitatíssimum)
Linum (known also as flax) – obviously most ancient oilseed crop. Its cultivation began about 8000 years ago, and origin is probably China or India.
On an industrial scale linum is used mostly in the form of oil (its content reaches 50%) for the production of paints, fabrics and polymers. Also stem fiber used for clothing and building seals. To a lesser extent linum used in food and pharmaceutical industries.
